Better late than never

So much to catch up on!

Richard Branson came to Fowey all the way from 1986 on his Challenger 2

Chelsea had her family over

...and a fabulous time was had by all.

Friday was spent having a leisurely wander and shopping round Fowey.  Saturday was Boardmasters - yay!  Sadly the weather was not yay.  This picture is fuzzy, partly because of my poor camera skills, but mainly because of the Cornish mizzle.  Good job we had our raincoats like sensible girl guides.
The mizzle continued and as evening drew in we found ourselves in the tea and cake tent (it's where all the hardcore ravers hang out obviously).
Then it was Basement Jaxx for the headliner - the reason we'd put up with a day in the rain!  An amazing show by them.

Sunday seemed a good day for a BBQ mmm...  And it's not a BBQ without marshmallows!
Mop disagrees. She thinks BBQs are a disaster waiting to happen and is very disapproving.
Sunday was a walk day around Mithian.  I spotted and scoffed my first blackberries of the season.
 We passed this impressive viaduct.
On Monday Sophie and I had an afternoon at the Eden Project.  We saw many wondrous things as ever at Eden.  Sophie was most impressed by this giant tyre used by the trucks that worked in the clay mine.
Eve (or Amie as we like to call her) was looking a little bald today.  Perhaps the sunny weather has scorched her hair off.
We had a go at the new barefoot trail (but we avoided the final stage of wet mud!  I get enough of that on our walks thank you.)
Of course there were tons of strange and lovely plants.
And a visit to Eden is never complete without a cake in the Bakery.
The Rainforest has some new residents - giant butterflies!  Here they are emerging from their cocoons before being released into the almost wild.
Then finally we finished the evening with a dinner in the Med Biome - just like being abroad!
Wednesday was the much anticipated spa day at St Ives Harbour Hotel - bliss!

Then on Thursday we decided it would be fun to go kayaking.  Here's Sophie just before we set off.  Moments after this photo was taken I decided that rather than carry the boat to the bottom of the slip and get in there, we should attempt a graceful slide from the top of the slip.
We capsized as soon as we hit the water.  Not such a good idea of mine it seems. Not that we let it put us off at all.  We saw a kingfisher and a heron on our travels.
It was an excellent week's competition for Dad and Mop - check out this haul of rosettes.

I went back to Sussex.  Had a great time on the boat and visiting grandparents.
Back in Cornwall we went camping down at Noongallas near Penzance.  Our tent is the furthest on the right.
Chelsea found a four leaf clover!  Good luck is on it's way...
... and then slipped over in a poo ten minutes later!
Time to pack away.  Come on Chelsea, that tent won't drag itself up that hill!
Back to Fowey for Chelsea's birthday.

We went surfing at Watergate
Sophie had made these towels for Chelsea's birthday
Chelsea's favourite - homemade pizza and pink fizz
 and home made ice cream!
thanks to Amie and Pete's birthday present

Bradley made me this beautiful bracelet.  All the beads are for a different surf spot in Cornwall that we've visited.
Regatta week was in full swing.  We saw the red arrows
 and fireworks too

On the bank holiday weekend we went for a walk around Restmorel Castle and Lanhydrock House.  Some good views to be had.
Then on the Monday met up with Paul for a surf at Whipsiderry Beach
and enjoyed fish and chips on Newquay Town Beach
a great way to finish the holiday
