Camping in the rain - again :-(

And so our much awaited camping trip began with high hopes following the recent sunshine.

We went to Loveland Farm in Hartland, Devon, and by the time we'd pitched up, things were looking good.

Our view from the tent was serene.  A sea view and buffalo in the field at the bottom.

There were Chickens running about and Beach huts for the toilet and shower blocks with thrones inside.  Very apt considering the celebrations in London.

I bet the Queen doesn't have one of these.

By the time we got out for a walk around Hartland Quay the weather had turned, not rainy, but to a menacing cloudy greyness.  It could still stay nice though.

Or not...

Bradley tries on the new waterproof trousers which we'd hoped we wouldn't need.  Looking good!

Al fresco dining was rained off and we hid in the tent to eat our dinner.  Mmm nachos!

On Sunday we went to Bideford.  They had their own flotilla, just not as impressive as the one on the Thames.  Nice bunting.

Cheese rolls in the rain as the dog had stolen our sausages which I foolishly left out to cool this morning.

After enough of the drizzle in Bizzle, we went up the road to Appledore where we found the thinnest house we've ever seen and lots of colourful streets.

The colour didn't quite washout the grey skies so back to campsite to cook in the rain.

But wait, what's this...

Clear skies!  Chelsea is made up.

Out with Chelsea'a fancy phone top see what the weather would be like on Monday - no rain!

And so we went surfing at Croyd Bay, a lovely beach where you can see Lundy Island from.

We're getting pretty good at this, no lesson this time, just hired our own boards and suits to battle it out with the pros.

Back to make the most of the sunshine.  Trout on the bbq and marshmallows after.  If only tomorrow would stay sunny too!

Or not.  We had to pack away in the rain, but made time for the customary poached egg on toast, something of a speciality for me (even if I do say so myself), but we had to enjoy it in the tent.

On the way back we stopped in Bude for a walk along the beach (in the rain - bracing).
