Monday
A nice sunny day for my first day off work. First job of the morning was to finish off making the Battenberg! Yum.
Then off to Gorran for a walk with Mum, Dad and Mop. I tested out my map reading skills planning the route to Portmellon.
Some lovely spring flower woodlands on the way. These bluebells smelt lovely.
Here's Portmellon. Time for a bit of Battenberg and a drink at the pub.
Then on to Mevagissey just around the coast path.
Time for an ice cream. This sneaky seagull had his eye on our treats but didn't attempt any thievery thankfully.
Then back to the campsite. 7 and 1/2 miles we did today. Have a look at the route. So we rewarded ourselves with a trip back to the Rising Sun at Portmellon for dinner. A lovely doggie-friendly pub - Mop recommends (as do we).
Tuesday
Today's incessant rain put paid to any plans for walking. Campervan games it is then.
My only talent lies in pictionary apparently. Sensible games like pontoon and rummy don't seem to be my forte. We had a go at Shut The Flaps as well that Amie gave us, which was a good game.
In the afternoon Dad and I ventured out to the St Austell Brewery for a tour, in search of the Black Prince. Sadly on arrival we found out it had gone the same way as Cornish Cream - off the production line. Despite this blow the tour was very interesting.
I'd never seen hops before - here they are:
And the big shiny mash tun:
Here's the beer in a fermentation tank - doesn't look very appetising at this stage I have to say.
And here it is getting bottled at the end of the process.
Then back to the campervan for a pasty dinner.
Wednesday
Hooray the sun is out! Kind of. Our walk today was to Porthluney (a surfing favourite of ours),
then along the coast path to the great metropolis of East Portholland,
then back again to the campsite. Lovely empty beaches today.
But disaster strikes! The ice cream hut is closed.
We had to settle for healthy fruit snacks I'd been carrying around in my bag since Monday.
Today's walk was 8 miles. Here's the route. After a trek like that we'd best get back to the pub at Portmellon again. The tide's high now for a different view.
Goodbye Emmetts! See you in August :-)
